Hey friends, I consistently try that you guys not only get the best shopping deals and loots out of the town but also you are saved from fake sites and fake promotions which have become a common issue now-a-days !! I am making this post regarding a fake promotion going on related to amazon and whatsapp in which you are promised to get Rs 5000 gift card by inviting some of your whatsapp friends !!
Today, I got a below message from one of my friends on whatsapp
I was instantly sure that this is fake after noticing few things -
1. The website name is www.amazon-gift.in which is absolutely fake. If this was really a real offer then it would have been something like www.amazon.in/whatsapp etc.
Amazon would never buy a new domain for such a promotion.
2. I tested the domain history of this website using an online tool and found out that the domain had been registered just yesterday :lol:
3. But still to confirm this thing, I actually invited 10 of my friends on whatsapp.
Guess what !! Still the code was not revealed. It asked me to install two apps - Paytm and OLX to get the amazon gift card !!
Now another strange thing here - Amazon would never want promotion of Paytm as they both are rivals in online market :D
>> But still I went on to install the two apps and finally clicked on "Finish - I have installed both applications" and was waiting for my gift card ( which I knew I would never get :P ) and as expected I got an error saying - "You have not installed both applications. Please install and run the applications and try again".
Whereas I had installed both apps, opened them and browsed them for a minute.
So friends , I advice you to stay safe and never get in these type of fake promotions and scams. We will be trying our best to figure out more of such scams. Anyways as educated citizens, you should be able to identify Fake vs Real yourself !!
Why is this fake promotion being done ?
Well now as you have come to know that this is all fake, you might be wondering what do these fake sites gain ? What is their benefit ?
Time to reveal - These fake websites earn millions by scamming you with these fake promotions.
For eg - In this case, their source of money is "Download and Installation of Paytm and OLX apps"
When you download and install these days by clicking from their link, they would get a certain amount of money from paytm and OLX but you finally get - "Babaji ka Thullu" :lol:
So boycott these things and yes if you ever receive such message from your friend, explain them about this. Awareness is essential. You can give them a link to this post so that they can understand themselves .
One more thing - Do share this post with your friends on whatsapp, facebook and other places so that your friends' time is not wasted !!
